Madonna rehearsing mashup of “Express Yourself” with Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” for MDNA Tour.
My thoughts here.
Along with the added lines, “She’s not me!” Really Madge? Really?
See and hear Madonna rehearsing the set here.

In response, Lady Gaga will be performing 1971’s “Respect Yourself” by The Staple Singers, during her performance of “Born This Way” in her current Born This Way Ball Tour.
I really detest women pitted against women, especially women choosing to pit themselves against one another. I also detest a 54 year old going after someone who is young enough to be her own daughter. Madonna is rubbing me the wrong way with this, and I can take someone being a bit cheeky. The “she’s not me” bit is what really irritates me, and I’ve found that the majority of interwebbers have felt exactly the same thing. That’s where it goes from being tongue-in-cheek to total and complete bitterness. It’s over the line.
People were over the whole Madonna-Gaga thing earlier this year, and here’s Madonna dredging it up all over again for media attention. It’s stupid, and actually makes her look bad. I wish Madonna would take the highroad. Couldn’t she just praise Gaga for her efforts to stamp out bullying, and trying to help gays and lesbians? I mean, really. Why not just say nothing? Madonna should be above this. I’m sure Gaga won’t respond, and that’s just going to make Madonna look worse.
The people who are actually all into this stupid passive-aggressive spat, as well as instigating a great deal of it, are the vicious stereotypical portion of the gay community, the true embarrassments to all of us.
Lady Gaga will see Madonna’s money going into her bank account each time she performs this, so I doubt she really cares. Also, Madonna and Gaga are now on the same record label, and are essentially promoting each other. Perhaps they’re both in on it. Gaga is supposedly about to announce her next album, and upcoming new single in a week or so. It would be awesome if Gaga joined Madonna on tour and performed the mashup with her sometime this year. The media would have mass cum explosion over it! They’re both going to be on tour for the duration of this year.
The Staple Singers never received a single credit in the liners for “Express Yourself” on 1989’s “Like A Prayer”.
What gives, Madge? Seems both Madonna and Gaga have been reductive!

The gay Republican coalition known as GOProud released its 2012 platform yesterday, and the group offered a “unique” solution to dealing with anti-gay bullying in schools.
“The answer to the serious problem of bullying is not more federal intervention in education,” the GOProud agenda states. “Instead, we support empowering parents and families by supporting school choice initiatives and protecting the right of parents to home school their children.”
While resisting federal involvement into local school matters is a natural conservative position, it’s less clear how vouchers and home schooling – both pillars of conservative education policy – would do anything to make schools safer for LGBT students.
“It allows parents who have kids who are bullied to make sure they go to school in a safe environment,” Jimmy LaSalvia, executive director of GOProud, told Fenuxe Thursday. “If they decide that their school isn’t safe, they can take the child to a school of their choice.
“We have taken the position that big government solutions, government-mandated curriculum, is not the solution,” he added.
LaSalvia characterized anti-gay bullying as a widespread epidemic that must be confronted.
“I think first and foremost, bullying is a problem,” he said. “I certainly know, personally, and I know that many, many, many gay people across the world know personally, what it’s like to be bullied because of their perceived sexual orientation. It’s important for all of us to make it known that it’s not OK.”
LaSalvia countered the notion that GOProud’s “Education Reform” plank does more to promote tenets of conservative ideology than address anti-gay bullying.
“I think that this is an example of how a conservative policy proposal that’s good for everybody can have a unique benefit to gay kids and gay parents,” LaSalvia said. “Down the list of our agenda, you see examples of how conservative policies that benefit everybody may have unique benefits for gay Americans. This policy [of school vouchers and home schooling] that’s put forth by a lot of conservatives can help make sure gay kids are safe.”
